The class is a leadership class put on by the Volunteer and Combination Officers Section of the International Association of Fire Chiefs to help administrative and operational leadership of volunteer fire departments in becoming more proficient in operating the business of the fire department beyond just operations. The target audience for the class is anyone who is a leader in their department - and not just elected officers. If you are active in your department administratively or operationally, please take advantage of Beyond Hoses and Helmets.

 

This class is held in conjunction with FireShowsReno Conference and Exposition, October 25-27, 2010 in Reno, NV.

 

The course covers a variety of topics that impact the volunteer or combination fire and rescue community. Methods of marketing to obtain maximum results in recruiting, recognition and funding for your organization are addressed in Beyond Hoses and Helmets. In addition, techniques used in recruiting and retaining volunteer personnel will be taught. Leadership skills and techniques will be discussed that will develop present and future leaders of your department assuring its survival into the future.
